A crackling chest led to Sophie’s lung cancer diagnosis
For Sophie, a 27 year old animal lover, her symptoms uncovered a reality she never expected—Stage 4 lung cancer.
I’m Sophie, a 27-year-old who adores animals and has a passion for reading and knitting—a skill my wonderful Grandma taught me when I was little.
In 2021, I started noticing unusual symptoms, like a crackling on my chest when I lay down, night sweats, and a sudden loss of appetite and weight. I had never smoked more than a handful of cigarettes in my life, so lung cancer wasn’t even on my radar.
It took time for doctors to work through the possibilities, and eventually, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 EGFR+ lung cancer. My treatment has given me so much more life, and I feel incredibly grateful to be on it. I hope to see it made widely and compassionately available on the NHS because it’s truly life-saving.
