Lung cancer was found during a routine scan
Nick, a never-smoker and avid traveller, discovered his cancer by chance—an accidental find that may have saved his life.
I’m 52, I love photography, music, movies, and travelling with my family—the more exotic the destination, the better! My wife and I have even booked a two-week trip to Japan in November 2025, and we can’t wait to experience a completely different culture together.
In 2022, my lung cancer was discovered entirely by accident, during a scan for an unrelated condition. As a non-smoker with no symptoms, lung cancer was the last thing I expected. But that unexpected scan revealed Stage 1 EGFR+ lung cancer, and it was caught early enough that surgery was an option.
Looking back, I feel incredibly lucky. My advice? Never pass up a scan if it’s offered. That scan saved my life. I got lucky—give yourself every chance to be lucky as well.
