Jules was diagnosed with lung cancer after being told it was tennis elbow
A working mum’s journey from lung cancer diagnosis to hope
I’m Jules, a 40-year-old working mum with a positive outlook on life. In 2021, after months of dealing with persistent pain, I was finally diagnosed with EGFR+ Stage 4 lung cancer. The diagnosis didn’t come easily; initially, my symptoms were attributed to tennis elbow or sciatica. It took persistence and further tests before I got the answers I needed.
My journey started with subtle signs—a hoarse voice, a lump in my neck, and pain that just wouldn’t go away in my shoulder. Despite being a non-smoker, I was eventually diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. The shock was real, but I knew I had to keep moving forward for myself and my family.
I focus on staying hopeful and embracing life’s positive moments. I’m really looking forward to exploring Japan, a trip I’ve always dreamed of, and finding new ways to enjoy time with my family.
